Last years New Year was wonderful. Me and my husband decided to join a dance competition. We weren’t the best dancers, but we thought it would be a fun experience. We decided to try out salsa dancing for the competition.
Me and my husband went to dancing school for a couple weeks before we entered the dance competition. The competition lasted from 9 P.M. to midnight on New Years Eve. It was full of different things to do, there was a lot of food and we got to watch everyone else dance as well. It was located downtown at a very fancy ballroom.
When it was almost our turn to show off what we had learned my heart was pounding. My husband kept trying to calm me down but I was scared that I was going to mess up. We had only been salsa dancing for a couple of weeks and everyone else at the competition seemed so confident when they were dancing. I would have assumed that they had been dancing for years.
It was finally our turn to get in front of everyone and dance. I faked a smile to the crowd and started our routine. At first I was unsure, but after a couple of minutes I really got into the music and me and my husband were doing wonderful. We had gotten every move down! Now the last move was about to come, he was supposed to spin me around and my legs were supposed to go into the air. Somehow he had messed up and I went flying into the air before I knew it! He caught me and everyone clapped.
The audience had thought that was part of our routine. I was so shocked and happy, I couldn’t stop laughing. Me and my husband ended up getting second place in the competition. People were complementing my grace in the air and I couldn’t help but smile. The New Years dancing competition ending up being one of the most exciting events of my life. Of course me and my husband sealed the night off by kissing at midnight.
Costume dress
A costume is a fancy dress or ornamentation designed with the purpose of distracting or drawing attention for artistic, religious, or other promotional genre, a person can dress to represent a real or fictitious event or special circumstances such as a carnival a costume party or play.
The tradition is recent, on this festive day, groups of children roam the streets asking for candy or sweet saying trick. It is said that France was the place where it was created between the XV and XVI, for the purpose of the feast of All Saints later left the party to be something Christian to become “the party of witches.”
Another version is that on October 31, the Celts celebrated their new year with the ritual of Samhein (or Samon), this was a ritual to the sun made on October 31, with it came the late summer and crops, it is said that the goddess of death and destruction called Morrigan Celtic let go of the dead to terrorize people so they could live and communicate. People living was disguised to look like the dead so they will not be disturbed. When the Celtic people was forced to cristianizarce by the influence of England and most of Europe does not everyone agreed. For the coincidence in time of pagan festival, the celebration of the saints, mixed and instead of remembering that day Saints remember the dead.
Since ancient times the costumes had a religious connotation, shamans trying to get the skills of the animals used their skins, or outfits using rituals which caused some impact among his followers.
